  • Complete administration tasks on time such as incident/accident reports, timesheets and logbook entries.

Experience working with infants and children or having your children is preferred but not required to be a childcare provider. High5 Daycare looks for people who really love working with children and understand that childcare is more than just babysitting – it’s about nurturing and supporting their growth. Candidates appreciate the flexibility of being self employed and working from home and can be professional and courteous when interacting with parents and children. Strong communication skills are important for effective communication with parents and agency staff and the ability to multitask while staying focused on the needs of the children in care is essential. Providers must also have current Standard First Aid/CPR-C from a recognized organization or be willing to get one. Candidates must also pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check and meet specific requirements such as being at least 21 years old and having space in their home to accommodate up to 6 children (no more than 3 under the age of 2 including their own children under 4). These qualifications ensure a safe, supportive and nurturing environment for all children in care.

As a High5 Daycare provider, you run your own business from home and are self-employed. This means you can claim tax deductions on business expenses like food, toys, supplies, car, and household items. You can also claim costs for running your home, such as rent, property taxes, mortgage interest, utilities, and house insurance. These deductions will reduce your taxable income, increase your net earnings, and contribute to your OAS pension.
